We must someday let them become adultsand make lives of their own and serve God into the next generation - hoping we have not completely failed them. Above all pray for them for we cannot keep them safe under our wings forever. God will provide teachable moments if we watch for them.
We must somehow weave in wisdom and understanding of life as they ask questions and are curious. Teach them to be as cunning as a wolf but as gentle as a lamb. We can and should shelter our kids from evil but we do them a diservice if they are totally ignorant of what awaits them in the adult world.
Parents must teach & demonstrate Godly character traits during their formitive years at home enabling them to stand firm as they enter adulthood or else when they enter high school, college and the work force some day they will be eaten alive and fall for all the worldly seductions out there waitng for them. So I recommend you see it with them and explain rights and wrongs along the way and influence them in a positive manner vs what they may get from friends or school. 1 - CAUTION - Most of my selections are for all ages, but parents should be selective on the more violent films such as braveheart and the few that contain slight nudity such as Notebook, but which I believe can be instructive if viewed with the parent at an appropriate age such as 13 and especially if they show an interest in seeing the films sadly they will most likely find a way to see it with or without you.
